What is Energy Healing?
Though energy healing is a relatively modern concept most often seen in new-age communities, its foundation draws from ancient healing modalities that recognize the vital life force energy within all living things. Cultures worldwide have worked with energy fields for centuries: the concept of Chi, Ki, or Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Eastern modalities like Tai Chi or Qi Gong , Prana in Ayurveda, Sekhem in ancient Egypt, Akasha in Hindu, and even Aether in ancient Greek culture. The people in these cultures are well versed in balancing energy flow within the body and embrace this beautiful practice as essential for our health and well-being.
With the advent of quantum physics, scientists discovered that matter behaves differently at the subatomic level, where particles can exist in multiple states, in different physical locations, at the same time. This breakthrough led to a new understanding that the physical and energetic realms are deeply interconnected and that we, as humans, can affect how the energy measurably behaves. Physicists like Albert Einstein and Max Planck opened conversations around truths in Physics and subtle energy that would eventually intersect with holistic health. Modern energy healing integrates these principles of energy with contemporary insights from quantum physics, forming a bridge between spirituality and science.
“Is Energy Healing…Reiki?” is a question we get asked frequently. The answer is: no. Reiki is a form of healing and balancing energy, but not all energy healing is Reiki. All energy healing has value and is without doubt, beneficial, and with the many types available there will be one to suit you. At RootDown we embrace many traditions and blend them together, as we believe the fundamental principles are the same across traditions. Carol practices Metaphysical energy healing, drawn directly from the Akasha (or Ether, if you prefer) and channeled to balance your personal Chi. But, whatever healing modality you ultimately choose, it needs to originate from a pure intention of unconditional love and an open heart, not from a healer’s ego.
